After lots of hard work and a torturous amount of editing I’m happy to introduce you to the brand new Drumless song, Stay Strong. I got a lot of feedback asking for more drumming content to help you practice your chops, so I delivered the goods! If this is your first time hearing about this whole Drumless business I would highly recommend checking out the official page (http://www.TheEndIsNich.com/Drumless) to learn more and then come back here to catch up.
This song was written to challenge myself and to challenge you. I wanted this to not only be my longest song but I also wanted to incorporate sounds and styles I’ve never used before. In making Stay Strong I ended up hitting many creative road blocks, which was expected. The title, the mantra, those two combinations of words are what got me to the end and helped me finish this song to completion. I hope that when you’re writing and practicing to this song that it can help you get through those moments of creative resistance and tear down those walls that prevent you from coming up with your best ideas. Stay Strong. Stay the course. Never give up.
Practice your ass off and have fun with this one. I had lots of fun writing it, I had lots of fun practicing with it, and I hope it can help you get a little bit better at your craft.
Welcome to 2014! Let’s look back on the past year. Did you achieve your goals you set out for in 2013? What got left behind in the bustle? What did you overachieve in doing? What was the biggest distractions? What were the biggest surprises?
2013 was by far the best year of my life yet. I got to upgrade my recording rig from Garageband to Logic Pro, a new recording interface, and I got to add my Dad’s old keyboard to my instrument arsenal. 2013 was my first year learning how to play the keyboard. I’ve always been around a piano and keyboard my whole life but I’ve never taken it upon myself to learn what the white and black keys do until this year. I’ve come a very long way with the help of my girlfriend and the internet in teaching me how to use this crazy thing. I’m already happy with what I‘ve been able to create and it’s only going to get better.
2013 also brought some of the best video games, books, movies, and music I’ve ever experienced. Do yourself a favour and check out some online lists of some of the best releases that 2013 had to offer, no matter what your interests.
Thanks to all who took the time to donate. Your donations have helped me to make upgrades to the studio, keep proper upkeep of my instruments, and helped keep this website on the web. I wouldn’t be able to do what I love without your generosity. If you haven’t yet donated please consider doing so. Every little bit helps.
Thank you, everybody. The little amount of attention you allow for me means a lot. I hope to one day be able to make your favourite song but the adventure has to have a beginning. Thank you for being a part of it.
Here’s a brand new track for the Drumless series, ‘Time Will Tell‘. This one is slow, short, and to the point. I wanted to introduce the concept of classical music and rock-n-roll meeting together without going into your typical 5-7 minute long piece of music. So here it is and have fun jamming, Time Will Tell!!!
I’m so happy to introduce you to a brand new series here on The End Is Nich, it’s called ‘Drumless‘. What is this DRUMLESS you speak of? Basically it’s music I write, with no drums, so you can play drums to it. It’s something I’ve always wish I had being a young percussionist living out in the country with no one the jam with, and I’m glad I can deliver it straight to you. This is in it’s infancy at the moment but that’s good news for you! If there’s a specific type of genre of music you’d like covered just let me know what you’d like to hear and I’ll custom make a song, just for you.
You can check out the debut track ‘Fucking LTC‘ and let me know what you think. There’s going to be tons more, so get involved and let your voice be heard.
