Another day in the office means another dance with the muse. Here’s what’s left after five hours of hard work. A song trying to get inside your head and hit the switch responsible for dwelling on negative shit. Hopefully these vibrations of sound can enter your ears, rattle your mind loose, and get you started on a path of practicing gratitude and realizing that everything is, in fact, alright.
Here’s that EP I promised to show you! Check out Major/Minor and pick up the record! It’s great songwriting and has a fun acoustic feel that I think you would enjoy. I had a lot of fun performing on it and I hope you have as much fun listening to it. Give it a stream and download it for any price you choose, even FREE!
I asked you guys for some input on Facebook to help me custom create a song. This one was inspired by a few things. The first being the request by my friend, Katie, to do something ‘Superhero’-y and ‘comical’. The second would be watching my cat, Yuna, try and fail so many times in one day. There was so much herp. So I combined classical elements with a whimsical and comical twist. I hope you get the visualization of your favourite animal in your life just being a silly all day while you listen along.
I got to work with Major/Minor for their upcoming EP ‘Self-Titled’. I got to perform Egg Shaker, Tambourine, Snare Drum, and Kick Drum on the CD. Here’s the first song on the EP, ‘Self-Titled‘.
There’s going to be more songs released periodically this week. Check out Major/Minor’s Facebook page and give them a like if you’re into em’ and you’ll stay up to date with all the new tunes! Charlie is an absolute blast and I enjoyed every moment of helping him create his CD with Kenneth. So much Love.
I turned to my friends on Facebook and asked them to lend me their brains so I could help co-create the scenery of their imaginations. One of my friends, Courtney, suggested that I make an ‘ambient’ and ‘video game’ themed song. This is the result.
Like in the Soundcloud description, I liken it to a dark take on our video game adventures of old.
“…I get the vibe of an emotional Mario 64. Maybe picturing Peach locked in top of Bowser’s castle and looking out her barred room’s window at the lights of the distant city where she knows some brave adventure is on his way to risk it all to save her. Hopefully.”

A new year means we’re getting a brand new 365 days to express ourselves and flex our creative muscles. Yesterday I sat down to work on some soundtrack themes and I accidentally made a brand new song. This one started out as just me screwing around with some piano fingerings and trying to learn how to make decent sounding chords. I found a few that worked together (totally not on purpose) and I ended up jamming a little something on piano. Afterwards I just added a few violins, basses, cellos, and a nice little glockenspiel at the end.
It took a total of 6 hours of my life to make this little guy. I hope he can put a smile on your face and inspire you to do more with your new year. Download him, put him on your iTunes, and share him with your friends.
Welcome to 2014! Let’s look back on the past year. Did you achieve your goals you set out for in 2013? What got left behind in the bustle? What did you overachieve in doing? What was the biggest distractions? What were the biggest surprises?
2013 was by far the best year of my life yet. I got to upgrade my recording rig from Garageband to Logic Pro, a new recording interface, and I got to add my Dad’s old keyboard to my instrument arsenal. 2013 was my first year learning how to play the keyboard. I’ve always been around a piano and keyboard my whole life but I’ve never taken it upon myself to learn what the white and black keys do until this year. I’ve come a very long way with the help of my girlfriend and the internet in teaching me how to use this crazy thing. I’m already happy with what I‘ve been able to create and it’s only going to get better.
2013 also brought some of the best video games, books, movies, and music I’ve ever experienced. Do yourself a favour and check out some online lists of some of the best releases that 2013 had to offer, no matter what your interests.
Thanks to all who took the time to donate. Your donations have helped me to make upgrades to the studio, keep proper upkeep of my instruments, and helped keep this website on the web. I wouldn’t be able to do what I love without your generosity. If you haven’t yet donated please consider doing so. Every little bit helps.
Thank you, everybody. The little amount of attention you allow for me means a lot. I hope to one day be able to make your favourite song but the adventure has to have a beginning. Thank you for being a part of it.
